I have decided to apply to the RISD summer pre-college program because I realized that in addition to needing more training in animation, it would be helpful to have more experience in drawing these natural forms from real life. RISD does a really intensive six week foundation course where you draw from fossils, preserved plant specimens, skeletons, and taxidermied animals from their extensive natural history museum collection. Understanding how to replicate natural forms in animation requires more than just knowing how to code or how to use algorithms. It also helps to be able to see and study the natural forms as well. I applied to their foundation and animation programs and was accepted.
