While I was researching fractals, I read this article on a new curve that was identified in 2015. Mathematician and artist Edmund Harriss discovered a new fractal curve that no one had drawn before. Harriss was trying to draw branching spirals like those found in Islamic art or the paintings of Gustav Klimt. Inspired by the golden ratio, he used a similar system of dividing rectangles, but came up with previously unseen patterns. After experimenting with the process more, he came up with the following patterns illustrated below.
