This book has been lying around my house for about a decade. We acquired it when Lainey was taking art and drawing classes. I was surprised to realize that this familiar book actually addresses many of my topic areas, albeit from a more artistic than scientific point of view. The book covers a wide range of forms and patterns, from branching leaves to the spirals present in galaxies, clouds, hurricanes, smoke, and ink dropped into liquid. I was a little disappointed by the levels of the explanations, but the exclusive focus on technical drawing is useful. Throughout the book, the author talks about the different movements of water, from tracing the way that stream rivulets flow to discussing the movement of jellyfish tentacles. He also called attention to the way that the human vein and artery system follows the same branching form as stream systems, as both are carrying liquids.
