After listening to the piece of music that my friend kindly composed for me, I tried to come up with the emotion that I wanted to visually convey or the story I wanted to tell. After listening to the song over and over, I settled on a feeling of something like frustration, or simply missing the mark. The song was intriguing in that every phrase took a turn I wasn’t expecting, often swinging from light, airy violin to dissonant chords. The overall effect was somewhat frustrating, in that the music never quite did what you expected it to. In order to convey this visually, I pictured several scenes one after another of small tasks going wrong. I wanted these little scenes to build on each other, as small inconveniences like missing a soccer shot or being unable to open an umbrella stack on top of each other and make the viewer increasingly unsettled and frustrated.
