To start my first visualization, I decided to begin with pulling some data from the Chesapeake River basin to try to learn how to actually set up a graph. I chose this area because of a previous Envirostats research project on general water health in the Chesapeake. I was also easily able to find a website  (https://datahub.chesapeakebay.net/WaterQuality) with large amounts of data gathered by the Chesapeake Bay Program about the health of the watershed. I am considering different types of graphs, including a map that shows different concentrations of pollution graphed over time. I pulled the below graphics as examples of different pollution-based visualizations. The three images depict both light and air pollution, shown in maps. The first shows air pollution in Madrid. The second shows air pollution in California. The third shows light pollution in the United States. I am going to continue looking for water-based pollution graphics, which seem more difficult to find.
